Mineral Makeup from Abbey St. Clare

I was contacted by this company to see if I was interested in sampling some of their products. Interested? I was flattered! I love mineral makeup.  My dermatologist has recommended for years that I use this type of makeup on my rosacea prone sensitive skin.
I requested a mineral powder foundation, blush and lipgloss. The company was kind enough to also include a finishing powder and an eyeshadow. I am completely enjoying all of the products sent to me. However, I chose the wrong color foundation for my skin based on my previous experience with foundations. The Abbey St. Clare website recommends ordering samples (5 for $7.00) before ordering full size products so that you can make sure products are a good match for you. I will be doing this in the future so that I can find the correct foundation color for myself. Please check out this website if you like mineral makeup or if you have been thinking of giving it a try.

My Sunscreen Talk - Once Again...

Now that the sun is shining and the temperatures are getting warmer, I feel the need to get back on my sunscreen bandwagon to remind everyone of the dangers of the sun...
I would like to take this time to urge everyone to wear their sunscreen when outdoors, come rain or shine.  Yes, a tan might look good but there is actually nothing good about it.  The sun causes damage to the skin that results in all sorts of ugly results in the future.  Wrinkles, age spots and discolorations are just a few of them.  And don't get me started on tanning beds!  Did you know that if you have been in a tanning bed that you have up to a 75% greater risk for getting skin cancer?
The thing that most people do not think about is skin cancer.  Skin cancer can be deadly.  Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer.  It does not discriminate age, race or social class.  Melanoma can travel to every single organ in the body.  One person dies every hour from this deadly form of skin cancer.  There is no cure.  PLEASE everyone, wake up!!  Wear your sunscreen every day.  Be sure you get a physical sunscreen with high percentages of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.  Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
My mom has been one of the unlucky ones to experience this cancer.  She is currently stage 4 with metastatic melanoma.  She is fighting the fight as you read this.  I would just like to raise awareness of this dreadful beast that has completely taken over my thought process these past few years.  Tell the people that you love to wear their sunscreen.  They will look beautiful without a tan and will hopefully live long to enjoy it!!

My Favorite Mascara

I can honestly say that I found my Holy Grail mascara. I have been using the Lancome Hypnose mascara for about 8 months now. This is the original formula. It retails for $26. I flirt with other products but always come back to this one. It is available in 3 colors. I use the Dark Black. The mascara is described as one that adds volume to lashes. I definitely agree. However, I achieve incredible length with this product as well. It is available in regular and waterproof formulas. I have only used the regular one. I have repurchased this mascara twice in the past 8 months which is definitely the sign of a great mascara, in my opinion. Do you have a favorite?
